A quick description of Balanced Dog Training refers to any approach of dog training or behavior modification which involves the use of both reward based techniques, and aversive consequences. In other words, the trainer shows the dog that their choices and behaviors can result in either pleasant or unpleasant results.
Every dog has a unique personality, and will come from a variety of families and backgrounds. I am often asked to help harmonize between what an owner and a dog need to thrive in their daily environment.
Because each owner and dog have different needs and abilities, I utilize a balanced approach in my training. This has many terms, including hybrid or blended training.
Essentially this means that I am not an all positive dog trainer, and nor am I completely traditional in my methods. Pulling from a variety of training philosophies, I tailor my training to each dog’s unique response and personality to discover the most effective training method for each dog, and owner, that I coach.
"Dogs should be allowed as much liberty as they can responsibly handle. The greatest gift of training is that it increases the dog’s ability to handle liberty." - Chad Mackin.
